Mid-Autumn Celebration | Celebrate the Festival with CIS Little Dragons

As theMid-Autumn Festival approached, CIS hosted a heartwarming celebration where students enjoyed a festive atmosphere filled with cultural learning, creative activities, and interactive experiences.


Amid laughter and joy, students not only experienced the warmth of the festival but also deepened their appreciation and love for Chinese traditional culture.



The celebration began in the school theater, where CIS Chinese teachers delivered an engaging bilingual presentation in both Chinese and English, introducing the history and customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival to students from different countries.

Both international teachers and students from around the globe explored together the rich cultural background of this traditional Chinese festival.。




Students learned about the origins of the festival and folk tales, which not only broadened their knowledge of Chinese traditions but also offered them opportunities to embrace and understand different cultures.

In the Elementary section, under the careful planning of Chinese teacher Ms. Janny, each class transformed into a lively Mid-Autumn market, guided by their homeroom teachers. Students felt as though they had stepped into a traditional festive fair.

Activities included:
“Jade Rabbit Silhouette” (paper cutting)
“Mooncake Toss” (beanbag game)
“Houyi Shoots the Sun” (pitch-pot game)
“Moon Poetry Recital”
“Stars Surround the Moon” (pillow relay)
“Riddle Fun” (lantern riddles)
Through these creative projects, students combined hands-on practice with critical thinking, experiencing both the joy of the festival and a deeper understanding of its traditions and stories.

Not only the elementary school, but also the ECE and secondary school activities were filled with challenges and creativity.

Meanwhile, in the secondary school, students from Orca, Bear, Hawk, and Wolf houses participated in activities such as designing Mid-Autumn Festival posters and creating calligraphy, showcasing their understanding and love for traditional culture through practical actions.

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the DIY mooncake-making session. From Kindergarten to Secondary, all students joined in, unleashing their creativity and hands-on skills.
